Ontology-Guided Knowledge Graph Construction
A method for building knowledge graphs where an ontology, a formal specification of concepts and relationships in a domain, constrains what entities and relations can be extracted from source content.
Rather than extracting whatever entities an LLM identifies, the ontology provides allowed classes and relation types. The LLM then instantiates these predefined structures from the source material.
The ontology can come from existing database schemas (cheaper, more stable) or be induced from text corpora (more flexible, higher maintenance).
